We didn't even get to sleep til dawn this morning because a huge fishing boat came in at 4:15, accompanied by shouts, cursing and light rain. (Jim probably felt right back on the job at Lakeside)
Yes, I got out of bed to take the photos you see above and below. After toast and tea, we rudely eased Laurie off the boat at 6:08 and headed out to sea.
It was as smooth as if the idea of waves never existed:
We spotted 9 fin whales, including a pair lunging at each other on the surface. Here's a whale I DID catch on camera.
We had time for reading, naps and five hours of sailing BEFORE lunch at 11:15. It was fish chowder today.
Afternoon was nice too with light fog and more boats than we have seen in the whole trip, combined.
There was a veritable flotilla chasing us through the narrow entrance into the harbor.
Our nice spacious side-tie guest dock was encouraging, but excitement evaporated when we learned that the dredge 100 feet away works around the clock!
We did a few chores around the boat, like checking connections, taking fuel readings and stopping leaks.
I guess the all-night dredge is okay because Jim says we're leaving before dawn anyway. We've got to get to Newport before the weather deteriorates.
Now it's 9, we're exhausted and departure is 8 hours away. Later!
