But we did go to Pierson's Hardware and Building Supplies, the nicest hardware store we've visited in a long time.
Note: Laurie's dad owned a TrueValue hardware store for 30 yrs.
I bought a goofy set of coveralls (see above photo). We got some hardware. We had hot chocolates and scones.
And we visited a used bookstore that has a whole section devoted to Bigfoot along with all sorts of paranormal stuff.
Note: Jim says he knows Bigfoot personally; but that's another blog, for sure ...
Is it any wonder we found a great selection of whale books there?
We bought two of those books.
Jim put his mini-clown-bike together and rode it around the Marina.
I did the island promenade old-fashioned way, and walked around the island. At the end, I saw this great fisherman's memorial:
Laurie went to the Laundry in the Marina to wash our stuff, and met Shawna, wife of the Marina manager.
After talking for a couple hours, they've came back to the boat for Happy Hour, after which Shawna stayed for dinner. It's no wonder they bonded -- in her day job, she works at a TrueValue Hardware store!
For dinner, we had lamb chops from Costco, Gary's "best by 2006" vintage rice a-roni (kicked up with mushrooms and peppers) and several bottles of the local Pinot Noir. We were too tired for dessert.
We talked boats. We talked Navy Seals. We talked about kids, jobs and fish. Jim told us about Jason and Elena Romay; Shawna told us about her Limo Service company in Bakersfield, her time driving Henry Kissinger, and her husband Alan (off in Sacramento at a son's birthday party). I told them about Derrick, the "Acts of Valor" SEAL.
A good time was had by all.
And so our day of rest ended. We swapped packs of our frozen fish for some of their frozen seafood and immediately fell sleep.
