Preparing to Resume Our Journey

We drove 333 miles to Morro Bay, had no traffic problems at all, and arrived sooner than anticipated. So we had smiles on our faces when we reached the boat.

We installed the new helm chair, using an existing hold-down bracket. This should keep us from flying around if the weather gets rough on the way North.

We celebrated with one of the famous Jason G & Ts.

We then removed the galley window vacuumed out the tracks (removing a broken-off screw) and soaped up the tracks. Now the glass can slide again.

I think boats are a perpetual challenge to keep in order. We also found some trim missing its screws and replaced them with some from the "screws that fell out on the floor" drawer.

All the while I had the feeling we were being watched. I didn't see any harbor police or fishermen, but after looking around I noticed the mother seagull on the boat next door watching intently.

So were her two oh-so-cute chicks who we saw hatching last time we were up here.

We celebrated by spending $20 on fish and chips and smoked BBQ ribs and cole slaw.

We talked to Jim (he's flying down tomorrow) and we cooked up a plan to set sail around 4 pm (just after high tide) and head for San Simeon anchorage. That's about 25 miles and gives us a head start on out  our first "real" day tomorrow.

Stay tuned!
